All the fans of CSI, Cold Case, SVU and historical series, sit and up and read carefully. AETN All Asia Networks is working with StarHub to launch two new channels via StarHub Digital Cable on 15 June. Youth.SG was at the press conference held at the Screening Room and got a little sneak peek at the exciting programmes lined up for the Asian viewers. The History Channel and Crime & Investigation Network "represent the very best in factual entertainment', "with their compelling educational and story-telling components, I believe they are the most appealing channels to launch in this region in a decade", said Mr Alan Hodges, Managing Director (Asia Pacific) for A&E Television Networks. Mr Thomas Ee, StarHub's Senior Vice President of Cable, Fixed & IP services agreed, "History and Crime and topics that have an enduring appeal". He also added that "The History Channel near great educational value and will lend renewed insights into the past, while the Crime and Investigation Network is highly anticipated for its fast-paced and exciting, yet true-to-life content". Mr Hodges describe the launch of these channels as the "fruition of longstanding discussions" with StarHub, an organisation he felt that could "bring insight into the local infrastructure". He went on further to reveal that both channels will hosts content that are locally produced and will be Asian-centric. AETN has already "made Singapore [their] corporate home", and will be "based here for the whole region". The History Channel is the only international, 24-hour network dedicated to bringing the power and passion of history to life. It offers high-quality original and historical documentaries, specials and mini-serieson a variety of subjects that have shaped our world. The facts of the past are revealed in new, interesting and compelling ways. The channel has the exceptional ability to reveal facts and examine history in new and different ways, empowering the viewers to make relevant connections between the past and the present. These are two programmes on The History Channel (Channel 8) Youth.SG think is worthy of your viewership. 1. Warrior Empire : The Mughals A two-hour special on The Mughals who was an empire with wealth and riches between any known human description. The programme explores the power struggles, excesses and accomplishments of this great culture, a dynasty of nomadic Asian rulers, whose empire covered much of India, Pakistan and Bangladesh. It provides a sweeping history of military ambition, innovative weapons and battle strategies, material excess, architectural wonders that shaped modern India. 2. True Caribbean Pirates This special gives insight into the world where scores of real pirates have been piling their brutal trade in the waters of the Caribbean long before Johnny Depp and Orlando Bloom came along. The special will feature pirates such as Captain Henry Morgan, Blackbeard, Captain William Kidd, Ann Bonny and Jean Laffitte who were amongst the infamous pirates whose crews lie in wait to violently raid merchant ships of various nations. |
