Emilio, ageless fashion maven
So PUPA’s first permanent makeup artist/ambassador,
Emilio Bergomi, was in Singapore last week to help launch the company’s latest line by obliging interviews with the press and giving makeovers to the public at BHG Bugis.
Youth.SG went down to have a chat with the maestro of makeup artistry to find out how and why Techno-Romance is perfect for anyone out there who is into cosmetics and looking beautiful.

But before we go into that, a little background information about Emilio is in order:
At 44, he has more than twenty years of experience, some of which were spent working with numerous fashion magazines such as Cosmopolitan Italian, Vogue Italia and Bella. On top of that, his resume is filled with names of fashion powerhouses including Roberto Cavalli, Fendi and Armani – just to name a few. Paris Hilton and Cameron Diaz are among some of the celebrities upon whom Emilio has turned his prowess to facilitate looking gorgeous and flawless.
He has also taught at various institutions the likes of BCM, the beauty centre of Milan. He travels extensively, and before this Singapore stop, was in Hong Kong for the Asian leg of PUPA’s Techno-Romance promotional tour.
PUPA (pronounced as poo-pa), according to Emilio, is a sort of Italian slang that takes on all at once the meanings of “puppet”, “doll”, and “sexy woman”. I

t is not an official word however, and cannot be found in the dictionary. Interestingly enough, PUPA started out targeting young girls as their main customers but over the years, the brand steadily moved beyond them to “create a very strong, very solid makeup line like it is now”, one that caters to a wider age range.
However, Emilio says that due to the freshness of PUPA’s colours, products and packaging, it is more likely that the brand appeals to the younger girls (say, 15-25 years of age); especially since the palpably unique feature of PUPA’s label is their beauty kit, which comes in fascinating shapes and characters with very fancy inner structures holding various shades and textures of lip gloss and eye shadows.
On the other hand, the Techno-Romance range comes in very simple yet classy packaging that belies the high technology used to make the products it carries. Emilio is tireless in emphasising the top quality of

PUPA’s creations, adding that price-wise, the brand can be categorised under “medium cost”. In this case, Techno-Romance products are currently being offered at less than S$50 despite the exclusive machinery and good investment that generated them; moreover, don’t forget the ubiquitous 20 per cent discount which always comes with our well-loved GSS.
Introducing Techno-Romance
Now, the first of PUPA’s Techno-Romance makeup line is its blusher
Easy Blush, which is informed by a new makeup concept that transforms blush application into a moment of blissful simplicity. Cold and dull colours are dismissed, making room on the apples of your cheeks for vibrant shades of pink that soften your features by leaving dashes of femininity in their wake. The product was designed with convenience and innovation in mind. All you have to do is

gently pat the puff on the back of your hand to bring the powder to the surface. Smile, then place the puff on your cheekbones and apply it however you want to.
Next up is the
Luminys Baked Eye Shadow, which is PUPA’s best-selling product. This comes in three new colours: metallic grey, shiny pink, and gleaming white. The awesome thing about this particular product is that it’s formed using a special technology which bakes the ingredients in an oven at 60 degrees Celsius for an hour, such that the pigments are able to maintain their richness and the pearls to stay largely unbroken, thus preserving their natural brilliance.

The process also ensures that moisture is locked inside the active ingredients, which gives the eye shadow an extremely soft texture that is fun and easy to work with. You can use it dry for a natural result, or wet for a dramatic and intense look. Also, you can mix and match shades for a more sophisticated effect.
To round it up, choose from four new colours of PUPA’s most successful lipstick,
New Chic – all in different tones of pink, delivering a strong blush and shiny finish to your lips.
On top of the Techno-Romance range, PUPA is also jointly releasing the one-of-a-kind ultra curling and super lengthening mascara called the
Ultraflex Mascara for a fabulously glamorous look. According to PUPA, Ultraflex can stretch and curl your lashes just as much (though not in the very same way) as high heels help to lengthen and curve your silhouette.
Thanks to its exclusive formula with a high content of filming agents and specific polymers, Ultraflex covers lashes from root to tip with a thin a

nd resistant film, giving lashes a defined curl and maximum hold. In turn, ceramides present in the formula help to reinforce, protect and moisturise your lashes. The appearance of Ultraflex itself consists of a new generation plastic material brush designed to coat each lash from the first application, releasing the correct quantity of product. Soft and flexible bristles as well as a comb create a ‘sheathe dress’ around lashes to achieve divine curl and extension.
The Techno-Romance Range is now available at good places such as Pink Beauty and Sasa Cosmetics. PUPA will also launch their professional cosmetics range this month – check back with
