Cedele is working together with Cafedirect to bring Singaporeans coffee that cares.
Cafedirect is UK’s largest company to pioneer their business that trades only Fairtrade products. Under this Fairtrade social movement, coffee farmers benefit more from the sales of the coffee and receive up to 60 per cent of the profits for their hard work out in the fields.
Additionally, the Fairtrade coffee beans served by Cedele are organic, that means that no harmful pesticides and chemicals are involved in the farming process, thereby protecting the ecosystem around the farm and also producing coffee that is healthier for consumption.
And of course, when farmers engage in organic farming practices, they no longer subject themselves to health risks just to bring us a nice cup of coffee.
All in all, all 15 Cedele branches now serve Cafedirect coffee.

Youth.SG attended the Cedele Beverage Presentation last Friday and was treated to a wide selection of (organic) coffee, (caffeine free) tea and the in betweens. We aren’t exaggerating when we say “wide selection”. We really do mean
w-i-d-e.
Just look at this A4 size menu. Well, we were served
everything on it. So next, these got us talking…
Contestants for Caffeine free and Whole Tea Leaves
Hot Green Unfermented Rooibos Tea
Iced Chamomile Tea with Honey
Hot Peppermint Tea
Hot White Pomegranete Tea
Green Tea Latte
Green Tea Mocha
Joyce: For me, the winning tea was the
Hot White Pomegranate Tea. The tea was alluringly fragrant and clear. It’s the kind of tea that you can just go on sipping for the entire day.
Jorge:
Green Tea Mocha!!! Ten points for Green Tea Mocha. It scored points for innovation and the taste reminds me of hot chocolate with a hint of tea.
Contestants for Organic Fairtrade Coffee
Long Black/Americano
Latte
Iced Mocha
Iced Hazelnut Latte
Latte with Organic Soymilk
Joyce: I don’t drink coffee, neither am I sure I really get coffee. Everything, even with a slight tinge of coffee just ends up overwhelming me with bitterness. I didn’t expect to take too well to any of coffee. Surprisingly, I ended up liking the taste of the
Iced Hazelnut latte.
Jorge: My favourite has got to be the
Iced Mocha. Who doesn’t like the combination of chocolate and coffee? This is a combination that can never ever go wrong!
Contenders for Coffee Complainant (Cakes)
Midnight Chocolate Cake
Belgian Chocolate Marquise
New York Cheescake
Sesame Tahini Cake
Blueberry Maple Cake
Joyce: The
Sesame Tahini Cake wins. A combination of both white and black sesame; what more I ask?
Jorge: I am in like with the
Belgium Chocolate Marquise. Who can resist the temptation of chocolate? (
Disclaimer: Most of Jorge’s decisions are swayed by the presence of chocolate.)
Contenders for Lassi
Mint Lassi
Mango Lassi
Basil & Orange Lassi
Cranberry Apple & Cinnamon Lassi
Grapefruit & Basil Lassi
Joyce: Lassi – To die for! I don’t love tea neither do I like coffee but Lassi is a whole new story. I like me some Lassi, please. The
Mango Lassi was heavenly. The texture was smooth and rich yet it doesn’t overkill with excess yoghurt. I will go back for it, everyday. The
Basil & Orange Lassi is another unique combo with a dominant sour tang and the refreshing mix of Basil, who would have thought?
Contenders for Chocolate Addiction
Hot Ginger Chocolate
Hot Chilli Chocolate
Hot Cumin & Coriander Chocolate
Hot Black Pepper Chocolate
Jorge: Chocolate – dead for them! This is really creative on Cedele part, they had chocolate bars that were spiced and they transformed them into hot chocolate. By the way, Mexicans drink their chocolate with spices, just the way they make it at Cedele. I don't really fancy the ginger one though, it’s too reminiscent of Teh Halia. I am sure that is NOT the way Mexicans enjoy their cup of chocolate, big no-no for non ginger eaters.
Contenders for Affogato
Earl Grey Affogato
Espresso Affogato
Joyce: As much of a coffee hater might I have been or still am, the
Espresso Affogato is really rich and delightful.
Jorge: Affagato is French for “float” and
Espresso’s the way to go (with vanilla ice cream). Earl Grey’s a little pushing it, even for me.
