I like the title of today’s Whatever Wednesday contest. It suggests a “I can’t be bothered with Valentine’s Day” tone which I really like.

No, I’m not a scrooge who’s sore about having to spend an exorbitant amount on an otherwise-could-have-been-cheap dinner. To me, Valentine’s Day is a day that puts extremely high(and unnecessary) expectations on people who are in love.

No?

Think about the time when your best friend planned a super-duper romantic and expensive celebration for his girlfriend. Did you feel at least obliged to plan an equally stunning one for your own girlfriend?

There you go – unnecessarily high expectations.

I’m so glad Chinese New Year falls on the same day as V-day this year.
Instead of having to spend a bomb, I can spend the day receiving and counting red packets (somebody hand me the Worst BF of the Year award already).

Nonetheless, for the hopeless romantics out there, don’t worry, we’re still celebrating.

5 sets of Valentine’s Day hampers up for grabs! Each hamper consists of a pair of movie tickets to catch Valentine’s Day, a movie soundtrack, a movie poster and a movie notebook (worth $50 in total).

Starring Ashton Kutcher, Anne Hathaway, Bradley Cooper, Eric Dane, (Julia + Emma) Roberts, Taylors (Lautner + Swift), Jessicas (Alba + Biel), Jennifer Garner, Patrick Dempsey and Jamie Foxx, Valentine’s Day is a series of love stories about couples who break-up/make-up due to the pressures and expectations of the over-hyped V-day.

Tell us your idea of the most out-of-the-norm/different Valentine's Day celebration(in less than 50 words) and you stand to win the hampers!

Send your answer to contest[a]youth.sg together with your name, contact number, partial I/C number (e.g. S8801XXXK), email add and mailing address by Feb 10, 11.59pm. Indicate ‘Whatever Valentine's Day' in your email header! Winners will be notified by email! S
