Default SMU Fresh Grads make 4k to 10k

I was surfing around and came across this article.

http://www.salary.sg/2008/smu-fresh-...ake-4k-to-10k/

That "Of the 618 survey respondents (SMU), 69 got high-paying jobs that pay between $4,000 to $10,000 a month."

Rather shocking (jealous jealous) but the article does bring into perspective that increasingly $3k will not do for a decent standard of living. worrying isnt it.

Wonder how much i'll be paid when I graduate. from ntu anyways.

Anyways another thing will be about the whole SMU thing. On their board is the guy on the directors of Mediacorp, of course they will publish good things like this. Dont know how true. Anyways its only for those 69 respondents.

http://www.straitstimes.com/ST%2BFor...ry_239133.html

'Singapore Management University reports that last year's graduates' average starting pay was $3,040. The top 20 per cent got $5,600 on average. This implies that the remaining 80 per cent got an average starting pay of about $2,400. This is just about the $2,350 starting salary for graduates with a pass degree entering the civil service.'

oh yes, my statistics prof said that it is impossible to plot a reasonable histogram using the stats that they provided. Their sampling is also very selective (meaning that they just select respondents with high salary), and not at all in line with common sampling methods. tsk tsk

ask your fellow friends in SMU whether its true anot. they'll laugh their ass off.

the few that earn in the range of $8k to $10k most likely are living in other countries.this explains their high wages when converted to SGD. but must also remember eh, the living expenses overseas is also quite high..

actually quite impossible to get so high pay with no experience ?!
i with so many years experience also cannot hit that rate! (the mid/higher end)
maybe they are talking about their dream pay, not actual pay?!

Maybe their talents are so specialised in a way that only the job suits them...not they suit for the job. Like a brain surgery specialist or something.
