Hi Eric,
We'll be listing the names of everyone who took part in the contest soon... I'm not sure though, if everyone's comfortable with me revealing their designs as well. There's this thread though, http://www.youth.sg/forum/showthread...9&page=1&pp=10 where everyone's strutting their stuff and exchanging views... |

Put 'Em all up... why are the judges picking the selected designs all by themselves? Make it more open and transparent. I've seen some of the other submissions and I'd say it looks much better than some of the 7 shortlisted designs. Put it all up and let the public pick the best of them all. What's the problem? This is the internet age and we don't have to queue up to pick the winners and there's no rush for the organisers to pick the "best 5" in such a short time. I bet the organisers themselves don't have time to seriously evaluate each design (since I think there are more than 100 of them). So give it a bit of democracy in the shortlisting of design to the public. |

u speak of democracy my dear friend...
imagine u had to vote for 30 candidates for presidency. 60-70% of the candidates cannot make it. some were ah-longs, ah-bengs, etc. isn't that a hassle? which is why the presidency election has a committee to screen worthy candidates. same for the design contest. i hope u'd understand the good will behind the move. ![]() |

BTW, the candidates you're talking about are those in the final runs of the presidency. And those few are finally chosen after the PEOPLE have casted their votes. You're describing an inappropriate scenario here. HELLO! Can you see the big picture? |

Dear all,
Please note that we already made the terms and conditions of the contest clear (www.youth.sg/contest). We will take into consideration your feedback, but in my personal opinion (and I would think quite a few would agree with me), I seriously doubt many people have the time to view all 120+ entries and make their choice. |

I'm not questioning the terms & conditions but I'm just curious at how you managed to select the "BEST 5" out of 120+ entries by Tues night. I'm reserving my complaints to the NHB as after seeing just a few other entries submitted, I seriously doubt the judgement of the judges... including you as one of them if I'm not wrong. |

Would you prefer that we hold the poll the year after the deadline for design submissions close? I'm sure you don't realise how little sleep all of us have been getting trying to run this contest like clockwork. And your comments thus far have will do little to encourage the organisation of future such contests.
In terms of judging criteria, we've listed them in the very first post of this thread, if you haven't already noticed. And for your information, no, I wasn't a judge in the contest... but i certainly understand the rationale behind the selection of the final five entries. |

To each his own.
You might think one way and the others might think another. How many people actually want to sit through 100 plus entries?? after the first 20 or so..the common man you speak of will have left. Leaving only the hardcore people and those who have not seen their own creations presented. How many people wanna sit through 100 plus entries? A few might...but enough to have a proper poll? Whats the alternative....putting all entries up..having the few people who are interested look at them...have the common man whos going to use the website but no tech geek (like me) loko at the first 10...and then vote??? Ridiculous. The idea of everyone choosing is good...but thats way oo idealistic. thats why we have govt in the first place. If not we would have ALL the people of Singapore choosing policies.... But that aside. One has to be fair |

Nobody is questioning yours or the contestant's hard work.
Your "selected" designs are (some) so disappointing that I wonder is it because of fatique that you selected those (some other) designs to be the 5 shortlisted ones. This is the internet. Ask your designers to put up ALL the designs and the public will have eyes to see your judges' judgement in choosing the selected designs vs the rest of the submitted designs. I'm not being sarcarstic but your team really disappoints me. Who doesn't work hard at all? It's a thank-less job everyone knows... so don't complain. "One has to be fair" - How do you achieve that? By hiding behind the walls and choose the 5 designs amongst the few judges? |
