Jonathan Seow ExhibitionStudio Privé is a project for young designers to fine-tune creative thoughts, amass knowledge of how the industry works, and to provide a showcase platform. It's the first designer's showroom in Singapore that provides showroom facility, consultation and trade resources to uninitiated talent. Studio Privé is meant for young fashion designers who wish to refine their signature style and develop their skills as independent designers while bearing in mind the fine line between artistic integrity and the bottom-line register. Since Youth.SG is a strong supporter of local talent, we decided to check our budding local talents out.
Studio Privé is currently consists of seven designers who were selected through their portfolios, having graduated from various local design colleges. They were also selected based on their determination, potential and drive. Over a period of 15 months, Studio Privé will be divided inthree phases - of Initial Collective Project, First Collection Presention (S/S 07) and Second Collection (A/W 07). The designers are now into the second part of development.
The showcase at 72-13 Theatreworks drew a fashionable crowd, but what caught the team's eye more was the fresh sense of style presented by our local designers.
The seven designers and their labels were:
1. Utt'er by Jossphine Xie
2. Fake by Windy Aulia
3. Tangle by Christy Chow
4. Nikicio by Nina Karina Nikicio
5. Iamwhoiam by Tan Qiu Wen
6. N'nchal'nt By Timothy Lee
7. Demisemiquaver by Teo Ying Hui

The last two are my personal favourite and I think the budding designers did a great job of capturing Singapore's own sense of style. The pieces were a good blend between both Western and Eastern fashion influence.

Studio Privé is conceived by Jonathan Seow, deisgner of Woods & Woods. The full collection of all seven designers are available for viewing at the showroom which is located at No. 2a Haji Lane, Level 2 Singapore 189195.
