Review: The Emperor's New Clothes

The Musical

ReviewsTheatre

It was a great and wonderful musical.

As the title says, it's The Emperor's New Clothes. Yes, I guess you are just thinking about the classic tale of that story with the same title. I am actually not talking about the tale, but a local musical by W!LD RICE with the same title: The Emperor's New Clothes.

The Cast

Last Saturday, I represented Youth.SG to attend the Gala Night of the musical mentioned above. As it was my first Gala Night, I was kind of nervous of what to expect, but it actually turned out really good because I had my friend by my side.

The musical starred Lim Kay Siu as Emperor Henry Lim Bay Kun, and Benjamin Kheng and Sezairi as Brothers who acted as tailors! The cast was amazing and talented! They not only can sing, but also act, dance and play musical instruments. It is utterly amazing.

For me when I watched the musical, what impressed me was firstly, the music. To me, the most important part of a musical is the music! The music was really impressive and there was a rich harmony in the songs.

Secondly, I was bewildered by the costume designs on the set. The rich colors used on the costumes really brought out something which I never seen before and I was amazed by that. The amazing designers were by Tube Gallery by Phisit & Saxit.

After the musical ended, I could only say that the musical is something that is close to my heart and I would never forget it.

In all, I felt that the musical is suitable for all ages. The music would make you dance, the jokes would make you laugh and last of all, you will love it!!

The musical is showing from 20th November to 12th December so click here or head down to SISTIC counters to purchase your tickets! It's a musical you would not want to miss!!
