Erm??? Delta Senior School? 




Affirmative! If you have passed by my school before and have been really observant to your surrounding area. There's a orange colour block behind the school near to the sport hall/ stadium. Yes, the school behind our school is Delta Senior School.

FYI: ITE College West is still ITE College West. Delta Senior School and ITE College West are two different tertiary. So Yeah, LET US ALL WELCOME OUR NEW NEIGHBOUR!  

SO WHAT IS GOING ON IN THAT SCHOOL?



Firstly, Delta Senior School (DSS) is a vocational school for students with special needs. They are also an Approved Training Organisation (ATO) accredited by WDA to provide WSQ certification. (Copied and Paste from their facebook page)

To equip persons with special needs, through best practices in education, training and support services, for open employment and life-long learning, in partnership with our stakeholders and the community.

Our Objectives

To cater for the needs of the mild intellectual disability

To initiate, promote and stimulate research into their problems and conditions

To stimulate and develop public awareness of the needs of these people

To assist parents on problems relating to their education and development

To encourage parents of such people to form groups and associations for mutual assistance and co-operation

To raise funds, to purchase and own properties and to sell or alter or convert such properties for the purpose aforesaid

What does the school offer?

Vocational Training & Certification Programmes

A wide range of Singapore Workforce Skills Qualifications (WSQ) vocational training and certification courses will be available for students depending on the areas of study such as:

Food & Beverage WSQ modules:

  • Follow Food and Beverage Safety and Hygiene Policies and Procedures
  • Prepare Basic Cakes
  • Preparing vegetables, fruits, nuts and mushrooms
  • Maintain Safe and Secure Working Environment
  • Prepare for Service (Mise En Place)
  • Maintain Food and Beverage Production Environment
  • Prepare Non-Alcoholic Beverages
  • Prepare and Serve Coffee and Tea
  • Maintain Quality Control Procedures
  • Interact with Guests (F&B)

Tourism WSQ modules leading to WSQ Certificate in Hotel and Accommodation Services:

  •  Interact with Guests
  •  Work Safely
  •  Service Guest Rooms
  • Service Public Toilets, Showers and Change Rooms
  • Carry Out Thorough Cleaning of Public Areas
  • Provide Safety and Security for Guests
  • Provide Laundry Room Services
  •  Service Other Public Areas and Back-of-House

Landscape WSQ module:

  • Prepare to work within the landscape industries

Environmental Cleaning WSQ module:

  • Perform Basic Cleaning of Hard Floor Surfaces

Besides, DSS is also partnering Singapore Institute of Retail Studies (SIRS) to conduct modules in Retail WSQ.

Apart from the above, students will have the opportunity to study in some or all of the following Employability Skills – Workforce Skills Qualifications (ES-WSQ) to enhance their portable skills, and become a more productive and better-skilled worker.
