Whenever exams draw nearer, you get out of your house in search of greener pastures, only to find every other student has the same thing in mind. 

Sooo, the question is, WHERE are the best study spots in Singapore?

Here is my list of places to go for your next round of studying.

  • Woodlands Civic Centre

Other than the library in the civic centre, the Starbucks on the second level is a good choice for northerners. Spacious and bright with natural light, you will be spoilt for choice with its assortment of sofas, bar tops and chairs.

  • Bishan Library
Bishan Library has four floors and a basement, with a Café Galilee on the first floor. There are plenty of seats with big tables. Should you find yourself without one, you can head over to the "pods" for some quiet reading.
Power slaves should head to level three. There are 15 plugs around six tables - no need to share!

  • Rochester Starbucks
Located within a refurbished double-storey colonial heritage building, Starbucks at Rochester Park features a menu with additional food items such as signature soup ($7.50), baked lasagnas ($12.50), pastas ($12.50) and wraps ($10.50).
There are indoor and outdoor seating areas: great for those looking for a place to chill at night after studying all day long.

  • D'good café 
This two-storey café also has an al fresco seating area. D'good café offers an all-day breakfast and main course menu, on top of the usual desserts and coffee.  While they have good coffee ($7), their dinner set meal ($22) has room for improvement.

  • Tampines One - J.Co
I was surprised to find this pleasantly quiet J. Co outlet sitting in a corner of the perpetually crowded Tampines 1. Facing a park that was newly renovated a few months ago, there is plenty of greenery for you to rest your eyes.

  • Changi Airport
This popular studying spot needs no introduction. Most cafés are located in Terminal 3, and they are open around the clock too. For an unconventional studying spot, head over to any one of the benches situated across all three terminals.

  • Forum The Shopping Mall – The Coffee Bean & Tea Leaf
This 24-hour outlet sits on the edge of Orchard Road. Other than the occasional sound of blending machines, it is relatively quiet indoors. There are plenty of al fresco seats if you need a quick break from the air-conditioning.

  • Wheelock Place – Spinelli Coffee Company
Quiet and spacious, you can easily find a seat here on a weekday afternoon. Power plugs are located along the walls and under the bar top. There is little traffic, making it easy for you to concentrate on your books.

  • Marmalade Toast

Hidden in the back of Ngee Ann City, this café has a wide range of food. For those looking for a refreshing change of menu, try their lemon tart ($4.80) and ice-blended lemon tea ($5). The zingy twists will keep you awake.

This café may be small, but good the food sure makes up for it.
