Here's how you won't score a second date.
First dates – sometimes they go well and sometimes they don't.
We asked youths to share their most awkward first date stories and here are some of the most jaw-dropping ones we came across:
Jodie, 22, student
"The only reason why I went out with this guy was because a mutual friend was pestering me to.
I offered to pay for drinks while he paid for food.
I ordered a jug of margarita and while struggling to pour it onto our glasses, he accidentally spilled half of it onto me.
THAT'S ONE WAY TO GET HER WET…
No surprise that the date went downhill from there.
I don't know which hurts me more – the pain from the ice, or the pain from the thought of my money going down the drain."
Anisah, 19, student
"I went for a movie date with this cute guy.
We went to watch The Hobbit and I was pretty stoked about it.
The date was going well until I realised that he was creepily staring at me instead of watching the movie.
I ignored it at first but to make it worse, every single time I giggled during a hilarious scene, he would look at me and say 'Kelakar pe?' which means 'Is it funny?' in English.
It was just weird and uncomfortable."
Shahrul, 21, NSF
"I knew this girl through a mutual friend. She was a hijabi (a Muslim girl that wears a headscarf) and I always found her cute. I had also been stalking her Instagram for a while.
I decided to slide into her direct messages and ask her out, which she nicely agreed to.
Weird thing is, when she arrived for the date, she wasn't wearing her hijab.
I asked her why she wasn't wearing it but she didn't answer me.
NOT ONLY WAS SHE NOT WEARING HER HIJAB, BUT SHE WAS ALSO DRESSED PROVOCATIVELY.
The date went on as per normal but it was awkward because she turned out to be completely different from who she portrayed herself to be online... On the inside and out."
Anderson, 24, store manager
"I went out with this girl who was really hot and pretty. Our first date was ice-skating and we had a lot of fun.
Only thing is that she kept calling me 'Andrew' instead of 'Anderson' throughout the whole date, even after I corrected her several times!
And the same thing happened on our second date, and it was so weird."
Sara, 21, barista
"I met this guy at a friend's birthday party. He was really nice and charming.
On our first date, we went for dinner and a really nice restaurant.
Everything was going well until he started talking about another girl. He took out his phone, showed me her Instagram, their WhatsApp conversations and even asked me for advice on how to get her!
SARA HAD NEVER FELT MORE "USED" IN HER LIFE.
Turns out that they were together in secondary school and he was trying to get her back. But it just made me wonder why he asked me out in the first place."
