Get into the Hari Raya spirit with modest and modern pieces from these six home-grown brands.

Hari Raya is a time when Muslims adorn their best clothes and smiles to visit family and friends and ask for forgiveness.

With the circuit breaker still in full effect during Hari Raya this year (May 24), should we still dress up?

We've put together a list of local fashion brands selling Hari Raya outfits if you do decide to change into something more festive.

1. Elda

With muted tones and simple designs, Elda boasts contemporary wardrobe essentials for women while ensuring their brand produces zero waste.

Last March, they launched their eight-piece Eid 2020 collection, Sahra

The pieces from Sahra are made from linen, a cooling material, so you won't feel too warm in our humid weather.

2. HAFIZAH GHAZALI

After graduating from LASALLE College of the Arts, the 28-year-old designer launched her label as a pilot experiment in 2015. Since then, Hafizah Ghazali and her business partner, Nurul, have been working towards making the brand more sustainable with slow fashion

Their Eid 2020 collection consists of five pieces with modern takes on traditional Malay silhouettes like baju kebaya and baju kurung

The fashion label also contributes a percentage of every purchase towards small-scale reforestation efforts in Sumatra.

4. LINAOTH

If Lina Osman were alive in the 80s, she would have made her Eid 2020 Collection pieces for her mother.

The collection comprises five sets, which were cut and sewn from scratch by a small group of tailors in Indonesia.

While Sets 01, 02 and 03 are currently sold out, you can check out Set 04 below.

5. Seventy Odd Branches

This is Seventy Odd Branches' take on celebrating festivities in the solace of our homes.

Their Eid collection, launching on May 11, will feature two looks: Hanne and Edith. Both looks are inspired by all things pastel and dainty. Think wispy silhouettes and silky ribbons.

6. whitedahliaco.

Unlike the other brands on this list, this homegrown brand may not have an Eid collection, but customers have turned to their minimalist modest wear as an alternative to flashy ensembles.

Their latest collection, Kami, features six all-black looks. Two of them, the Tabah and Tenang set, consist of a skirt and top.  If you're into the minimalist look, I think either set can be an option for your next baju kurung
