You can now adopt these SAF veteran dogs that have served in the military

Social causes

19 retired military dogs will be up for adoption from Jul 20 to Aug 14 this year.

If you've been looking to provide a loving home for a furry friend, you're in luck!

The Ministry of Defence, Singapore (MINDEF) will be organising The Military Working Dog Unit Adoption Drive from today to Aug 14, 2020.

19 retired SAF military dogs are looking for a new home to enjoy their golden years after serving the Singapore Armed Forces dutifully.

These veteran dogs have guarded military installations and even sniffed out narcotics and explosives during their previous army stint.

All dogs, aged between 7 to 13 years old, go through routine health checks, which include yearly vaccination and a heartworm and parasite prevention programme.

The canine soldiers have also undergone basic obedience training.

Get to know some of the cute four-legged veterans below!

Rambi is a 10-year-old male German Shepherd.

Trigger is a nine-year-old male Springer Spaniel.

Nita is a 10-year-old female Labrador Retriever.

Head to MINDEF's Facebook page or website for more details about the 19 dogs available for adoption.

For those living in a HDB household and are unsure if you can adopt these furry friends since they're on the larger side, check out Project ADORE's website to see what type of dog you can bring home.

If you're not able to adopt a pup this time round, don't worry! The retired dogs who are not adopted will still be cared for by the Military Working Dog Unit.
