Love them or hate them, they will forever be in your life.
You fight and you pull at each other's hair, but at the end of the day, you are still bounded by flesh and blood.
When I was first told that I would be an older sister, I was elated. I did not know what to expect – certainly not gaining a best friend that would be with me at every major step in life.
I remember when I was seven or eight-years-old. My younger sister was still tiny and wrapped in those baby wraps. I would mischievously sneak into the room, untangle the wrap and leave her wriggling around the crib. My grandmother would come in and wrap her again.
Seconds later, I would unwrap her and the cycle continued. This was one of the many pranks and fond memories I have of my sister over the years.
Aside from being the best victims to play pranks on, here are some other reasons why having siblings was the most fun.
1. You have someone there for you forever
Your siblings are the people who can entertain you when you are stuck at an awkward family gathering and you cannot leave just yet. You would crack inside jokes amongst yourselves, and if your aunt is being meddlesome again, you can count on them to save you from that disaster.
I MIGHT NOT SHOW IT BUT I AM GRATEFUL FOR MY SIBLINGS.

2. They take care of you when you are sick
I only found this out last week. I was down with a terrible bout of fever for an entire week and my sister would change the ice towel on my head every hour of the night. Talk about sisterly love, huh?
I FEEL SO MUCH BETTER NOW, THANK YOU VERY MUCH.

3. Emotional and physical support
Whenever my younger brother has a bad day in school, he would come to me for advice. He would share his problems and this always brought us closer. And even though he is too young to give me advice, he never fails to ask me how my day went.
EVEN THOUGH THERE IS A TEN YEAR GAP BETWEEN US, I STILL TRY TO BE CLOSE TO MY YOUNGER BROTHER.
4. Partners in crime
Coming home late, sneaking out in the middle of the night, all these would not be possible if I had no partner in crime. My younger sister would unlock the door at night when I got home super late. I would then tell her everything that happened without missing out a single detail and she would just listen to me babble at four in the morning, instead of sleeping.
PARTNERS IN CRIME SINCE YEAR 2000.
I came across a quote from a TED Talk that left quite an impression on me: "Our parents leave us too early. Our spouses and children come along too late. Our siblings are the only ones who are with us for the entire ride."
At that moment, I realised that we have to cherish our siblings, no matter what.
