Here is why we did not have a bouncing good time.
Last Saturday, Youth.SG went for Bounce Off!—Asia's Largest Inflatable Race. The inaugural 3.2km race was filled with 11 gigantic inflatable obstacles spread across three beaches on Sentosa Island.
I was very excited and amused that there finally was something like the American gameshow WipeOut happening in Singapore. Going for the race felt like I was finally living my childhood dream.
Although the race was something unique and the first of its kind in Asia, I felt that there were lots of improvements that could be made. Here are the five improvements I hope to see in Bounce Off 2017.

1. Less running and more bouncing
As I started off the race, I was hyped up for finally being able to try all the inflatable obstacles. By the time I finished two of the obstacles however, I was feeling so tired and lethargic. This was because of the distance between the obstacles being rather far apart.
I know this was supposed to be a race, but I had rather spent my energy on the inflatable obstacles than on running.
The route of the race was also rather confusing. With no road marshals or sign boards to help us know the way, at times I did not even know which beach I was at after a while.
WE FINISHED THE RACE!
2. Working inflatables
The most disappointing thing that day was finding two of the inflatables were down! I walked past the closed inflatables, though some other racers stayed and waited till the inflatables were up and running again.
3. The obstacles were just toooooooo hot!!!
Pardon my exclamation but the amount of pain I had to go through sliding down the obstacles was quite intense! It was really very, very hot.
I felt that they should have at least sprayed water on the obstacles to ensure that the obstacles were cooled down, especially since the material did not allow my shorts to slide over smoothly, leaving me cooking my butt off on the slide.
HOT AND SUNNY DAY.
4. A better bazaar
After the race was completed, I checked out the Bounce Off! Bazaar. To make my disappointment greater, the Water Blob, which was the most exciting thing at the bazaar, was not working! It was such a waste because it was supposed to be the first in Singapore too!
5. Vouchers that have not expired
There were a few gift vouchers in the race pack, but looking through the race pack I realized that all the vouchers were actually expired! This was really very disappointing.
SUCH "WONDERFUL" RACE PACKS.
I understand many of these problems were a result of the race being postponed from 2015 to 2016 due to the haze. It is an interesting race with potential for improvement, so I would still probably go for the race again if it happens next year.
